Kit for New Year’s Eve Home Clearing and Blessing
Hogmanay is is an ancient celtic festival celebrating the arrival of the New Year. Although it has its roots in pre-christian traditions, it is still celebrated to this day, chiefly in Scotland. Christmas itself is the Christianized version of the rituals used to celebrate the passing of the longest night and the (re)birth of the Sun and a new solar year. During the times of the Protestant reformation, Christmas was not celebrated in Scotland as it was considered too ‘Papist’, instead the tradition of Hogmanay was honored. Although there are many differing local customs, Hogmanay is a time to bid goodbye to the old year, welcome the new & accept the blessings it brings.
