Monthly Magick for January 2014
Store owner and Wiccan High Priestess, Lisa, details & descibes the focus of magickal energies for the coming month.
I am going to try to keep up with this from month to month so you can build your personal Book of Shadows and stay in touch with the astrological energies being offered to us,
1/5 Cancer Full Moon Cancer Moon energies are great for healing and house blessing. This month we have 2 separate kits to work this magick with.
A healing spell kit which comes with a healing mist made with rosemary and other secret ingredients, a jar of hand blended herbs, a clear quartz with a blue star pouch and a water candle (cancer¹s element) Full instructions are included and the kit comes in a beautiful dark blue organza pouch.
We are also offering a Hogmanay (a Scottish tradition) House Blessing Kit. It comes with palo-santo, two crystals, sea salt, and a mini taper. Full instructions are also included.
1/13 Libra Waning Moon (last quarter) This is a good time to think about balance, or releasing negativity. Libra is ruled by Venus and can sometimes bring about karmic energies or see justice be served. If you are working on a court case or letting go of old hurts this is a good moon phase and astrological energy to work in. Use a Libra or a Justice candle in your rite and as the flame burns down see the waning moon working your magick.
1/20 Capricorn New Moon: We are offering a prosperity kit for this Moon. Capricorn is one of the most practical signs of the zodiac, and you can harness this energy to build your business and boost your financial profile. Our Prosperity kit includes: A golden tigers eye, a crystal spiral, prosperity bath salts, a handmade Capricorn votive and of course full written instructions. (get this started before the mercury retrograde)
1/27 Taurus Waxing (first quarter) Taurus is also ruled by Venus, but since the moon is waxing it is a good time to build. We suggest this is a good time to work on finding true love or renew the love you already have. A Taurus, a Love or a heart chakra candle or all three would be great to use in your ritual. As the heat of the candle strengthens see your love connection strengthening.
Imbolc is Feb. 1st - I love to look at the waxing crescent in January and February, it looks like the edge of a pregnant belly or a bowl. This is a good time to bless the candles you will use for the coming year in the glow of your Yule tree fire. Or perhaps choose the Leo full moon to do your candle blessing ritual. Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)
Algiz: Algiz is the rune of of protection and our connection with other-worldly forces. At first glance, these qualities may seem unrelated, but consider how we connect with the divine. Our very sense of security is intrinsically linked with our faith. Through this, we gain a sense that we are inherently safe. Algiz is the rune of courage in the face of fear. Water ones, you are being called upon this month to face what truly shakes you up. You are, in a sense, moving through the fear and pain of your experience, and allowing healing to begin. From a practical perspective. Algiz speaks of close friendships. It suggests supportive friends who always "have your back." Now is a great time to express how grateful you are for their friendship. It sometimes indicates the blossoming of a new friendship, one that will be quite satisfying (if not significant). Algiz can also describe friends who have crossed over, but still offer support and protection form the other side. Find comfort in knowing that they are here with you, in spirit.

Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)
Laguz: The dog days of summer are upon us and we are all scrambling to squeeze in warm-weather activities before the air turns cold again. Laguz is here to suggest that you relax, slow it down, and let life happen on its own terms. Laguz is the rune of “flow.” By tuning into this intuitive energy and letting it move through us, rather than reacting, we open ourselves up to the infinite possibilities of the Universe. It reminds us that by clinging to our ideas of a “right” outcome, we often create our own suffering. Laguz tells us to have the courage to do absolutely nothing, to let the Universe unfold as it should. Laguz indicates that now is the time to trust your gut, drop the over-intellectualizing, pay attention to your dreams, and listen to you inner voice. Let the Universe guide you.

Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)
Isa: Welcome to the hottest month of the year, fire signs. Despite all of the heat and humidity, Isa is reminding you that it's OK to play it cool and be still. Isa is the rune of ice and foretells a period of inactivity. This might feel frustrating for such kinetic signs of the zodiac, however, I am willing to bet that it will be a welcome reprieve. Isa's energy contracts and holds the qualities of patience and slow movement. If you have been feeling emotionally chaotic and a bit frazzled, Isa will solidify and slow down that energy, giving you a chance to catch up and reflect on possible solutions. Isa is also the rune of self-control. This goes hand-in -hand with the notion of being still, being present, and taking the time to think things through. While Isa may me a slow-mover, don't be fooled. Things are happening beneath the surface. Just as a glacier can cause a massive change in a landscape over time, Isa reminds us that things ARE happening, even if they aren't immediately apparent. Think of the water running beneath a frozen stream or crocuses popping up underneath a late spring snow. Be patient, it's happening!

Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)
Dagaz: Hooray for you, earthy ones! You are about to reap the reward of you efforts. Dagaz is the rune of breakthrough and it indicates the “pay off” for hard work. This isn't a subtle process, either. It is a windfall of blessings, so... well done! In keeping with this energy, Dagaz also represents bold change. While you are about to be rewarded, you also are going to experience quite a paradigm shift in all aspects of your life. Be prepared to be turned around a bit. Dagaz reminds you to be flexible and balanced in your response to these changes. While the energy of Dagaz is quite dynamic, it is not in any way chaotic. If we look at the image of Dagaz, we see symmetry and balance. There has been a tremendous amount of study done in the area of balancing the left and right hemispheres of the brain. We know that through this process, one can often experience the process of spiritual awareness and divine awakening. Dagaz carries this energy of a middle ground between two extremes. It is the metaphorical corpus callosum of our enlightenment. Enjoy these blessings, earthbound lovelies, you've paid your dues!
